The benefits of full-spectrum CBD

The educated CBD consumer will naturally want to know what the differences between a CBD isolate, broad spectrum, and full spectrum CBD (learn the distinctions between the three here). Here, ENFLEUR would like to spotlight the benefits of full spectrum CBD.

Full spectrum CBD means that all of the chemical compounds present in the cannabis plant are also present in the end product. Cannabis contains over a hundred unique cannabinoid compounds, as well as terpenoids (also referred to as terpenes), which are thought to amplify each other in terms of how effective they are therapeutically. This is known as the “entourage effect”, wherein the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. With the therapeutic potential of cannabinoids being the subject of ongoing clinical investigation, we can anticipate that there is still much to be discovered. To date, what we do know is that the entourage effect is thought heighten therapeutic effectiveness in the treatment of “pain, inflammation, depression, anxiety, addiction, epilepsy, cancer, fungal and bacterial infections…” according to a review published in the British Journal of Pharmacology

Full-spectrum CBD also offers added nutritional benefits over and above an isolated CBD product. Full-spectrum CBD contains essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and proteins.

A quick note about THC. Can a hemp-derived full-spectrum CBD product induce a high? By definition, hemp must contain less than 0.3% THC. This is thought to be an amount too small to induce the sensation of being high.

Why does this matter? There is good reason to think that the therapeutic potency and potential of cannabinoids and terpenes working in synergy can exceed that of CBD alone.
