The effects of CBD on non-motor Parkinson’s Disease

ENFLEUR is pleased to share a 2019 review published in the peer-reviewed medical journal European Archives of Psychiatry and Clinical Neuroscience evaluating the efficacy of CBD in the treatment of Parkinson’s Disease. Significantly, the review found that all three studies that evaluated CBD’s effect on Parkinson’s non-motor symptoms (REM sleep behavior disorder, psychosis, daily activities, and stigma), reported significant therapeutic effects.

ENFLEUR has reported previous studies that have investigated CBD’s therapeutic activity in terms of neuroprotection, its ability to improve quality of life for those living with Parkinson’s disease, and its antipsychotic activity. This most recent review has indicated an ongoing need for longer-term studies with large numbers of participants. However, based on the current available data, it is optimistically entitled, “Is cannabidiol the ideal drug to treat non-motor Parkinson’s disease symptoms?” It’s safe to say that there’s good reason to hope.

Why does this matter? In three separate studies investigating the effects of CBD and Parkinson’s, CBD was well tolerated and showed significant therapeutic effects for non-motor symptoms.
